Just a Scare
It is crazy of how life can change at just any moment.
Yesterday Stephen got a card from the postman that said that he had certified mail from the Nebraska National Guard. Instantly Stephen's and my mind went to the same place. We thought he might be getting deployed. Stephen is out of active duty, but he is still in the inactive reserve until December. Even though we knew it is unlikely for him to be called up, it is still always there in the back of our heads. Thankfully the letter yesterday was just his discharge papers from active duty. Just a scare, but still, it just got me thinking that life can change fast at any moment.
Thankfully, Stephen and I are on the same path as before, but it just reminded me to not dismiss him. That we need to cherish each other and the time we have together.
A couple of weeks ago I made a roasted vegetable tart. It was so good! Stephen and I ate the whole thing. We figured afterwards that we each ate 1/2 a summer squash, 1/2 a zucchini, 1/2 a red pepper, 2 garlic cloves, 2 roma tomatoes, and 1/2 of a pie crust.
if you want to try it, I would be more than happy to send you the recipe!
Our third anniversary is coming up and Stephen and I are planning on taking a bike trip on the Katy Trail. We are going to just take it easy and ride about 35 miles one way, camp for the night, and then ride back the next day. Stephen and I are really looking forward to it. This is something that I have always wanted to try. Hopefully it won't be too hot, won't rain, or have many mosquitos!
Thanks for reading.
