2017 Carol Service
On 14th of December we held our second carol service at the church. There was a good turn out with 33 people there.
Luke started us off by greeting and welcoming everyone.
Tiffanie kicked it off with a few carols. O Come O Come Emmanuel, O Come All Ye Faithful, and The First Noel.
Then Stephen's guitar lessons group lead us in Silent Night and Joy to the World. They did great even though they were missing a couple of ladies from the group.
After that we had about four kids that had planned on singing "Jingle Bells" but we invited up anyone who wanted to sing along. We ended up having so many I ran out of bells! I will have to be more prepared for that next year.
Then Stephen lead a medley of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Claus is coming to Town. Everyone enjoyed it. He also lead Once in Royal David's City which was written by an Irish woman.
I joined Stephen for three more carols. Away in a Manger, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and O Holy Night.
The evening ended by a few people from our congregation reading John 3:16 in different languages. They always did this in the church in Drogheda and Stephen and I loved it. We are so happy that we can continue on the tradition at our own little church. The languages we had were Afrikaans (from South Africa), Irish Gaelic, German, English (with a Northern Irish twang!), Russian (from Kazakhstan), and Malayalam (from India). We would have had a couple more, but a few people were already away, traveling for the holidays.
All in all we all really enjoyed the evening and are looking forward to it again next year.
